Plagiarism Policy

Introduction

Jurnal Abdi Kesehatan dan Kedokteran (JAKK) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. All manuscripts submitted to this journal must be free from plagiarism and adhere to ethical scholarly practices in accordance with international standards, including those recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

1. Routine Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts are routinely screened for plagiarism using reliable detection software (such as Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools) prior to the peer review process.

  • Screening is conducted for every submission without exception
  • Results are carefully evaluated by the editorial team
  • Manuscripts that do not meet ethical standards will not proceed to peer review

2. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, images, or data without proper citation
  • Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without acknowledgment
  • Self-plagiarism (reuse of one's own previously published work without citation)
  • Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously

3. Similarity Threshold

  • Manuscripts should have a similarity index of ≤ 20% (excluding references and common phrases)
  • Each report is evaluated contextually, not solely based on percentage

4. Editorial Actions

The journal will take appropriate action depending on the level of plagiarism detected:

  • Minor similarity: Authors will be asked to revise and correct citations
  • Moderate similarity: Manuscript may be rejected with an option to resubmit
  • Severe plagiarism: Immediate rejection and possible notification to the author’s institution

5. Post-Publication Issues

If plagiarism is identified after publication:

  • The article may be retracted
  • A formal retraction notice will be issued
  • The author’s institution may be notified

6. Author Responsibilities

  • Ensure originality of the manuscript
  • Properly cite all sources
  • Avoid duplicate or redundant publication
  • Use quotation marks where appropriate

7. Commitment to Publication Ethics

JAKK enforces strict plagiarism policies to maintain the credibility and integrity of scientific publishing. Any ethical violations will be handled in accordance with international publication ethics standards.
