Publication Ethics
The integrity of scientific publishing is fundamental to the mission of Jurnal Abdi Kesehatan dan Kedokteran (JAKK). This statement outlines the ethical standards and responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, and reviewers, in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
- Accuracy and Reporting Standards: Authors must present their research accurately, clearly, and in sufficient detail to allow others to replicate the study. Data fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation is strictly prohibited.
- Originality and Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and should not be under consideration by any other journal simultaneously. Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources are mandatory.
- Authorship and Contributions: Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript prior to submission.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper citation of all referenced work is required.
- Conflicts of Interest and Disclosure: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of results.
- Corrections and Retractions: Authors are responsible for promptly informing the journal of any significant errors in their published work and cooperating with editors to issue corrections or retractions as necessary.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
- Editorial Decisions: Editors have full responsibility for the acceptance or rejection of manuscripts based on scholarly merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Decisions are guided by the journal’s policies and applicable legal requirements, including copyright and plagiarism laws.
- Fairness and Impartiality: Editorial decisions are made objectively, without bias based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or personal beliefs.
- Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and may only share information with authorized parties (e.g., reviewers, editorial board, publisher).
- Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a personal, financial, or professional conflict of interest.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers provide objective assessments to assist editors in making informed publication decisions. Constructive feedback should be provided to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
- Promptness: Reviewers should notify the editor if they are unable to review a manuscript in a timely manner or lack the appropriate expertise.
- Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review are confidential and must not be shared or discussed with third parties without editor approval.
- Objectivity: Reviews must be impartial, avoiding personal criticism of authors. Assessments should be based solely on the content, methodology, and significance of the manuscript.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers must identify relevant prior work not cited by the authors and alert editors to substantial overlap with published work.
- Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist and must not use any information gained through peer review for personal advantage.
Jurnal Abdi Kesehatan dan Kedokteran (JAKK) is committed to adhering to COPE ethical standards and expects all authors, editors, and reviewers to maintain the highest level of integrity in the publication process.
