Complications such as pneumonia, deep vein thrombosis, paralytic ileus, persistent postoperative pain, and extended length of hospital stay are frequently associated with prolonged postoperative immobilization. Early mobilization has been recommended as an evidence-based nursing intervention to prevent these complications and enhance patient recovery. This study aimed to systematically review the scientific evidence on the effectiveness of early mobilization as a nursing intervention for preventing postoperative complications.

A systematic literature review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Articles were retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases for publications between 2019 and 2024. The review included original research studies involving adult postoperative patients who received early mobilization interventions. The main variables reviewed were postoperative complications, including respiratory complications, venous thromboembolism, gastrointestinal dysfunction, postoperative pain, and length of hospital stay. Data were collected using outcome measurements reported in the included studies.

Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in the synthesis. The findings consistently demonstrated that early mobilization significantly reduced the incidence of respiratory complications, venous thromboembolism, and gastrointestinal dysfunction. In addition, early mobilization was associated with lower postoperative pain and a shorter hospital stay across various surgical populations.

Early mobilization is an effective and evidence-based nursing intervention that plays a crucial role in preventing postoperative complications and improving patient recovery. Integrating early mobilization into standard postoperative nursing care is strongly recommended to enhance clinical outcomes and support safe, efficient recovery processes.
Sucipto Sucipto, Murtiningsih Murtiningsih Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/183 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Peningkatan Penyembuhan Luka dan Stabilitas Glikemik pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 dengan Fasciitis Nekrotikan: Laporan Kasus https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/185
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that frequently leads to serious complications, including severe soft tissue infections such as necrotizing fasciitis. Chronic hyperglycemia contributes to impaired tissue perfusion, decreased immune response, and delayed wound healing, thereby increasing the risk of severe infection and poor clinical outcomes. This case report describes the implementation of comprehensive nursing care for a patient with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus complicated by necrotizing fasciitis.

This study employed a descriptive case report design involving a 72-year-old male patient diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis of the left lower extremity, accompanied by Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and systemic complications. Nursing care was delivered using the nursing process approach, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The main nursing variables addressed were skin/tissue integrity, infection risk, and blood glucose stability. Data were collected through patient interviews, physical examination, wound observation, blood glucose monitoring, and review of medical and nursing records.

The primary nursing diagnoses identified were impaired skin/tissue integrity, risk of infection, and unstable blood glucose levels. Nursing interventions focused on aseptic wound care, glycemic control management, infection prevention, pain management, and patient education. Evaluation outcomes demonstrated improvement in wound condition, reduced purulent exudate, stabilization of blood glucose levels, and decreased pain intensity during the course of nursing care.

This case report indicates that comprehensive and evidence-based nursing care, particularly strict glycemic control combined with appropriate wound management, plays a critical role in supporting wound healing and preventing further complications in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and necrotizing fasciitis.
Julieta de Carvalho Xavier, Ricardo Correia Luruk, Argi Virgona Bangun, Lilis Suryani Marpaung Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/185 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Penerapan Posisi Semi Fowler dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Tidur dan Mengurangi Sesak Napas pada Pasien Congestive Heart Failure : Studi Kasus Berbasis Evidence-Based Nursing https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/188
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a chronic cardiovascular condition frequently accompanied by dyspnea and impaired sleep quality as a result of pulmonary congestion and reduced cardiac output. These symptoms significantly affect patient comfort and quality of life, highlighting the need for effective non-pharmacological nursing interventions. This study aimed to describe the implementation of the semi-Fowler position as an Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN) intervention to reduce dyspnea and improve sleep quality in patients with CHF.

This study employed an Evidence-Based Nursing case study design involving one patient diagnosed with CHF who was hospitalized at Immanuel Hospital Bandung. The patient experienced dyspnea and sleep disturbances but was hemodynamically stable and fully conscious. The intervention consisted of positioning the patient in a semi-Fowler position with head-of-bed elevation of 30–45 degrees for approximately 15 minutes once daily over three consecutive days. Data were collected through nursing assessments, direct clinical observation, and evaluation of patient responses before and after the intervention.

The findings demonstrated a positive clinical response following the implementation of the semi-Fowler position. The patient reported reduced dyspnea, improved respiratory comfort, and decreased use of accessory muscles during breathing. In addition, improvements were observed in sleep duration and perceived sleep quality, with fewer nocturnal awakenings related to shortness of breath.

In conclusion, the semi-Fowler position is an effective, simple, and safe non-pharmacological nursing intervention for reducing dyspnea and improving sleep quality in patients with Congestive Heart Failure . This intervention can be integrated into routine nursing care as part of Evidence-Based Nursing practice to enhance patient comfort and overall quality of life.
Ricardo Correia Luruk, Julieta de Carvalho Xavier, Argi Virgona Bangun, Lilis Suryani Marpaung Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/188 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Analisis Tingkat Kelelahan Postpartum terhadap Motivasi Pemberian ASI https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/191
Exclusive breastfeeding is an essential intervention to improve infant health, yet its achievement in many regions remains below established targets. Postpartum mothers frequently experience fatigue resulting from physiological and psychological changes, insufficient rest, and the demands of adapting to a new maternal role, which may affect their motivation to breastfeed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between postpartum fatigue and breastfeeding motivation among postpartum mothers who attended Srikandi Husada Kudus Clinic.

This study employed a cross-sectional design with a quantitative, observational-analytic approach. The sample consisted of postpartum mothers on days 3 to 7 after childbirth, selected purposively based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sample characteristics included age, education level, employment status, type of delivery, parity, and breastfeeding method. The variables analyzed were postpartum fatigue (independent) and breastfeeding motivation (dependent). Data were collected using standardized questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods, including the Spearman Rho test.

The findings showed that most postpartum mothers on days 3 to 7 experienced severe postpartum fatigue with relatively low breastfeeding motivation. The results also indicated a tendency that the higher the fatigue experienced by mothers, the lower their motivation to breastfeed, particularly during the early postpartum phase.

This study indicates that postpartum fatigue in the early puerperium is closely associated with low maternal motivation to breastfeed. Therefore, early identification of fatigue and optimization of breastfeeding support from the beginning of the postpartum period are necessary to improve breastfeeding success.
Elvina Amelia Hapsari, Irawati Indrianingrum, Noor Azizah Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/191 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Pengaruh Posisi Miring Menggunakan Peanut Ball terhadap Lama Kala I Fase Aktif pada Ibu Bersalin https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/193
Normal delivery is a physiological process that ends with the birth of the fetus and placenta. However, the extension of the active phase still often occurs and has the potential to cause complications such as bleeding, infection, and maternal fatigue. Safe and simple nonpharmacological measures are needed to accelerate labor. A primary therapeutic method available involves the left-tilt position with a peanut ball, which expands the pelvic cavity, optimizes contraction efficiency, and accelerates fetal vertex progression.

This inquiry employs a numerical analytical framework using a quasi-experimental post-test-only control-group methodology. The participants were 45 healthy mothers in labor recruited through a deliberate selection procedure. The intervention group was given a left-leaning position using a peanut ball, while the control group was without a tool. Information acquisition was executed through monitoring using a partograph and a chronometer to quantify the length of the first phase of the active phase. Evidence examination used an independent t-test or a Mann-Whitney test at the significance threshold of α = 0.05.

The findings revealed that the mean length of the first stage of the active phase in the treatment cohort was shorter than that of the comparison group. Numerical assessments indicate that a substantial disparity exists between the two clusters (p < 0.05), suggesting that the use of peanut balls in the left-leaning position is effective in accelerating the progress of labor during the I phase.

The left-slanted position with the peanut ball has been shown to provide physiological benefits by optimizing uteroplacental circulation, increasing contraction strength, and promoting pelvic dilation. This intervention can be an innovative, safe, and easy-to-apply alternative in obstetric practice to speed up labor, improve maternal comfort, and support evidence-based labor services.
Yasmin Alya Shadrina, Nor Asiyah, Fania Nurul Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/193 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Rehabilitasi Medik Dengan Metode William Flexion Exercise Pada Pasien Low Back Pain Pasca Trauma https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/194
Post-traumatic Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders and can lead to prolonged pain and limitations in daily activities. Medical rehabilitation using the William Flexion Exercise (WFE) method is a therapeutic approach that aims to reduce pain and improve lumbar function through structured flexion movements. This study aimed to describe the outcomes of medical rehabilitation using the William Flexion Exercise method in patients with post-traumatic low back pain at Ibnu Sina Hospital, Makassar.

This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 60 patients were selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Respondent characteristics included age, sex, and diagnosis. The research variables consisted of pain intensity as the dependent variable and the William Flexion Exercise intervention as the independent variable. The instruments used were the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) to assess pain intensity (pain at rest, pain during movement, and tenderness) and the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) to measure functional disability. Data were analyzed descriptively using frequency distributions and percentages.

The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (65%) and belonged to the adult age group (53.3%), with the most common diagnosis being non-specific LBP (70%). After undergoing rehabilitation with the WFE method, pain intensity improved significantly, with most patients categorized as having mild pain: at rest (63.3%), during movement (65%), and on tenderness (80%). Additionally, 35% of patients no longer experienced pain at rest. Functional disability outcomes were also favorable, with 70% of respondents categorized as having mild disability and no patients experiencing severe disability.

In conclusion, medical rehabilitation using the William Flexion Exercise method demonstrates favorable outcomes in reducing pain intensity and improving functional ability in patients with post-traumatic low back pain.
Meuthia Sendy Yustisia, Imran Safei, Fadil Mula Putra, Achmad Harun Muchsin, Utomo A. However, it has side effects such as emotional disturbances and weight changes that can lead to discontinuation of use. In Banjarmasin City, the Noradina Anggi Agustin TPMB has a relatively high number of three-monthly injectable contraceptive users. This study aims to describe the mothers' experiences as three-monthly injectable contraceptive users at this location.

The study used a descriptive qualitative design. The study was conducted at TPMB Noradina Anggi Agustin from December 2025 to January 2026. Six participants, consisting of five acceptors and one midwife, were selected through purposive sampling. The study variables included perceptions, complaints, support, and barriers. The instruments used were the researcher as the main instrument, a semi-structured interview guide, and a voice recorder.

The study showed that users of the 3-monthly injectable contraceptive had a positive perception because it was effective in preventing pregnancy and was practical. The main complaints reported were menstrual irregularities, weight changes, and anxiety. Support from husbands, family, and midwives played a significant role in continued use. Barriers identified included fear of needles and fear of using other methods, such as IUDs and implants.

This study shows that the experiences of 3-monthly injectable contraceptive users are influenced by their perceptions of contraceptive benefits, perceived side effects, support from their environment, and barriers to contraceptive use. Ongoing counseling by midwives is needed to help users understand side effects and support continued use of 3-monthly injectable contraceptives.
Rokhimah Rokhimah, Fika Aulia, Pratiwi Puji Lestari, Rizki Amalia Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/209 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Pengaruh Teknik Kompres Dingin terhadap Mobilisasi dan Intensitas Nyeri pada Pasien Pasca Operasi ACL https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/197
Pain and limited mobilization are major problems experienced by patients after Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery. Uncontrolled postoperative pain may delay rehabilitation, reduce joint function recovery, and increase the risk of complications. The cold compress technique is a non-pharmacological nursing intervention that may help reduce pain intensity and improve mobilization in postoperative patients.

This study used a descriptive case study design with a pre–post intervention approach. The participants were patients who underwent ACL reconstruction and were hospitalized in the inpatient ward of Hospital X. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and mobilization was assessed by observing range of motion (ROM) and ambulation ability. Cold compress intervention was administered according to the standard operating procedure during the observation period.

The findings demonstrated a reduction in pain intensity and improved mobilization following the application of the cold compress technique. The intervention reduced local inflammatory responses and enhanced patient comfort during the early rehabilitation phase. Cold compress therapy can be recommended as an evidence-based independent nursing intervention in the postoperative management of ACL reconstruction patients.
Budi Prihartini, Yovita Dwi Setiyowati Copyright (c) 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/197 Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Hubungan Keteraturan Kunjungan Antenatal Care (ANC) Dengan Kejadian Anemia Pada Ibu Hamil https://jakk.candle.or.id/index.php/jakk/article/view/203
Anemia during pregnancy remains a significant public health problem because it increases the risk of maternal and fetal complications.
